Forgetting how this affects the team, a year for Vilma seems outrageous
I want to know what the difference in actions resulted in this suspensions of different lengths.

Well, Vilma was named in the NFL report (the only offender named) for putting a bounty on Favre for the NFC Championship game. Personally, this is what I expected for Vilma. But I anticipated more than 4 players suspended.
