NYG - GM Reese says rookie WR Randle reminds him of Nicks

Source: Sports Radio Interviews

Giants GM Jerry Reese joined WFAN in New York with Mike Francesca and had some good things to say about second-round pick WR Rueben Randle (LSU). "Rueben has the height, weight, speed. He's a big guy. He reminded us of [Hakeem] Nicks in some ways. He's not a blazing fast guy, but he's got play speed like Nicks. … Nicks was a 4.5 guy just like this, like Rueben Randle. He's big; he can post guys up. He was handicapped a little bit by the quarterback situation. … This guy ran the entire route tree. We think he's going to quickly come in and quickly have a chance to help us."

Randle reminds us of Buccaneers' WR Vincent Jackson because of his size/speed combination. He's shown the willingness to run routes over the middle, has good hands, and has the body control to adjust to poorly thrown passes.

As well as all of our current WRs.

i figured the gm for the team that drafted him would have a lot of negative things to say about him.

Love Reuben, but he has had a bit of an issue dropping very catchable balls. Seems like a concentration problem.

I posted it more about his ripping of our QBs again.

It seems like everyone knew our QBs sucked except Les.

I think Les knew how much our QBs sucked, which is why our run/pass ratio was close to 2:1

He should have worked Mettenberger in more last season when JJ was out.

He doesn't know all of the playbook? So what? JJ and JL know it all, and look where it has gotten them.

It's absurd that RR fell all the way to the defending super bowl champs at the end of round 2.

Pretty sure that this was "Les speak" for off the field issues.

I bet there is a lot of tape to back this claim up

adjusting to league game speed/cb size and talent will be his biggest hurdle. I really believe he is capable of having a decent career if he just yearly improves his craft. luckily, the gints have two quality wideouts and good tight ends so he will have time to learn. Manning is good to very good but the gints win with a balanced offense that features big backs and aggressive receivers, solid D, and great special teams. he should be very comfortable with that concept.

geaux RR!

Stuff like this is funny. Two analysts on NFL network said that one of the things holding RR back was that he didn't run very much of the "NFL route tree" while at LSU. Just shows you that even the "experts" can watch the same film and see completely different things.

There's a reason these guys aren't employed by NFL teams.

I knew this comment was coming. FWIW it was Mayock and Billick. Mayock is generally revered around here as the best media evaluator, and Billick could pretty easily get another job in the league if he really wanted.
