Is an argument even needed? Their rpi is motherfricking 15. I feel like I'm taking crazy pills.

But RPI isn't everything to the committee. See LSU last year.

Like it our not there will be 2 seeds from out west. Likely UCLA (legit) and Oregon or Stanford (questionable). Its just what the NCAA does.

They will then pair up the west coast teams and thus limit the chances that multiple west coast teams will make it to Omaha. And yes, I know the travel argument...

It's enough that if it's 15 you are out of national seed discussion. End of story.

Should be out of discussion I should say.

Your west coast bias surrounding every sport is incredible

The evil NCAA hates the West Coast. There would be 7 teams from over there in Omaha every year if several teams didn't get screwed/left out and the rest didn't get matched up in regionals against each other.

LOL WUT?? Fullerton is the only west coast college team I follow, but keep in mind that I grew up an LSU fan. I am a huge LSU fan, but feel I should cheer for Fullerton since I graduated from thee. Then of course I am a Angels fan, but don't think I talk up SF or the Dodgers are any other west coast teams.

My point was that the NCAA will have 2 west coast teams in top 8 and that those teams will likely be paired up vs. other west coast teams.

Never said that but rather just discussed the reality that they will play the regional card and that likely a team that didn't deserve it would be a top 8 seed.

ETA: I think that as of the last few years they have done a better job of not basing things on regions as much as they had in the past. This is a move in the right direction and I think fans like this more than LSU always being matched up against say Rice because they are nearby.

it's not asinine. we don't play any of the teams above us in those projections. if we still had series to play against florida and kentucky, then yeah it wouldn't matter. but now kendall is making it look like we need help from other teams which is absurd

Uh yeah it is. projections right now are just assumptions. they tweak them how they want to. so much can happen over the next couple of weeks. we could lay goose eggs from here on our. We could win out and get the number one seed. If you are getting upset about a projection with three weeks left, then sorry cant help you there. lets take care of what we can control and worry about this at the end of the SEC tournament.

not really, quite the opposite actually.

last year with west coast teams:
UCLA paired with UVA
Arizona St (close enough) paired with Texas
Oregon St paired with Vandy
Fullerton paired with UNC

then on the other side:
Rice paired with TCU
Clemson paired with South Carolina
Florida paired with Georgia Tech

they committee had zero teams out west paired up with one another last season

2010:
Arizona St with Arkansas

Auburn with Georgia Tech
South Carolina with Coastal Carolina
Texas with TCU
Miami with Florida

then they did pair Fullerton with UCLA.

Good.

Just watch... Once Stanford falls off, the committee is going to replace them with Arizona and come up with some reason to give them a NS.

wasn't it 2010 where we were sent out to UCLA?

I did ETA regarding this. They have been making an effort and I think it makes things more interesting. However, over time there has been a propensity to have these regional matchups.

I still think they should seed 1-16 at a minimum. This would at least make it seem more transparent and less regionally based.

Yep...I said that they would find a way to have 2 west coast national seeds. I don't think it would be Arizona though. Fullerton and Oregon have better RPI than Arizona.
