So is RPI all that matters?

Nobody knows what matters. I think its some combo of RPI + record vs. top ____ RPI + regional and conference distribution + pixie dust==Top 8 rankigs

Pretty much this. Also add nonconference games on the road

There's really no other way to put it. And it's not just towards you, I hate that expression when used any time. I think your results on the field should determine how good you are, not some subjective "eye test"

Uhhhh, you do know that I was born and raised in LA and have been an LSU fan all my life right? I just happened to graduate from Fullerton.

it's shite like this that ruins college baseball selections LINK . Florida's RPI needs report to get a national seed you ask? They could finish 0-11 and stay in the top 8 according to Boyds World. SOS is great and everything, but you actually need to beat those teams not just have them on your schedule. I'm convinced a team could play nothing but top 20 teams all season long, win 10-15 of them, and have a top 5 RPI ranking. Now, I know that won't happen, but it's stat nerds like Kendall Rogers that take all these crazy baseball metrics as gospel instead of actually watching the games on the field. And a bunch of wins in the first month of the year shouldn't mean jack. One SEC series win over a team with a winning record, in the first week of the SEC season, not to mention losing 3 of your last 5 series, doesn't warrant earning a national seed. For our sake, we really need Florida to get swept this weekend by UK. It might hurt our SEC chances, but a national seed is more important. Obviously we need to take care of business too or all this bitching won't even matter

Kendall's thoughts on that:
#LSU had head to head, but #Gators 14-8 vs. RT25, vs. 7-5, plus 19-9 vs. RPIT50 vs. 12-9 vs. RT50 RT @LSUbeat: @KendallRogersPG LSU vs. UF?

he won't respond to questions about Oregon, though. That's inexplicable and he knows it.

RPI sucks in both basketball and baseball. We need a new metric, but I'm not sure what can be used.

Incorrect. That shows Florida's RPI needs to be in the top 8 RPI.

After last year you should know that RPI isn't directly correlated to being in tournament.

BUT, i get you overall point.

Florida is still the best team in the country IMO. When they get healed up and the pitching staff starts pumping, NO ONE will want to play them, but right now TODAY LSU is the better team.

no one wants to play them now, but being the most talented doesn't really matter. Maddox, it was reported today, has tendinitis in his elbow, so that's a blow. Zunino has gagged since SEC play began, batting a cool .266 w/ 13 RBIs (5 of them in two games the first series of SEC play). It isn't Florida's pitching that's hurting them, it's hitting. They're 2nd in the league in ERA during SEC play, but they're hitting .256 as a team because they have a bunch of players trying to play gorilla ball with these new dead bats instead of manufacturing runs.

tomato tomato,

Thing about the RPI is it doesn't matter when justifying leaving someone out with a good RPI but it does matter to justify putting someone higher than people think they should have been with a not as impressive overall record. In reality, it's a crock, as are a lot of these statistical metrics, that people use only when it helps their argument. When it hurts their argument, it's always the "eye test."

@DEANintheYAY
@KendallRogersPG yo Kendall, some LSU fans are saying you are avoiding answering questions about LSU/Oregon comparisons regarding Top 8 seed

3m Kendall Rogers ? @KendallRogersPG
@DEANintheYAY What? I'm pretty sure I haven't had a single question comparing the two, but the comparison is a no-brainer.
