I caught this the other night for the first time. Remember it getting pretty much universally panned when it came out, but I have to say I actually enjoyed it. It's not oscar-worty or anything but it was decently acted and the story-- a middle aged man figuring out how to start over-- was fairly entertaining. The sub-plot with Julia Roberts character as a dead-end community college teacher with a porn-surfing husband was also interesting.

Was it just that folks expected the re-invention of the wheel with Hanks and Roberts? I mean, I'm not sure I'd pay $10 to see it, but I wouldn't dog it for a DVD or cable watch.

I watched it on HBO the other night. I thought it was really bad actually. I kept thinking that this movie is a testament to how scripts must look a lot better on paper sometimes than in reality because it was just flat all around. Really unimpressed. Julia Roberts character didn't make sense to me.

I did think the girl that befriended him immediately was really good looking. But Wilmer Valderama was not even remotely funny and was just terrible on every conceivable level.

On our board rankings, I nominated it as the worst movie of the year - hated it with a passion.
