#12 "The Quiet Storm", Marques Colston
In the 2006 NFL Draft the Saints selected Colston out of Hofstra in the 7th round and the 252nd overall pick. Originally it looked as if Colston wouldn't make the team b/c he couldn't catch a pass early on during OTA's. Eventually, he settled in quite nicely in showing great promise in pre-season games and helped lead to Coach Payton's decision to trade Donte' Stallworth to the Eagles. He finished his rookie season with 70 catches, 1,038 yards, and 8 touchdowns. His career totals to date are 449 catches, 6,240 yards, and 48 touchdowns. Not too shabby for a 7th round draft pick.

I still don't understand how Colston hasn't made a Pro Bowl yet. The guy has definitely deserved it and has had the numbers in most seasons to back it up.

Luke McCown anyone?

Bivian Lee - Cornerback who was drafted by the New Orleans Saints in the 3rd round (54th overall) of the 1971 NFL Draft out of Prairie View A&M. Played from 1971-1975. Had 9 interceptions and 110 tackles. Led the Saints in interceptions in '72 and '73. Bivian died in '84, but his son, "Sonny" went on to work for the Saints and Tom Benson at one point and now heads up a charity called Son of A Saint to help fatherless boys. Article on the Charity.

#11 John Fourcade

Fourcade played as an undrafted free agent in 4 games as a backup to Joe Paopao for the British Columbia Lions in 1983. As a career journeyman quarterback, he played for the 1984 Winnipeg Blue Bombers (CFL) and the 1985 Memphis Showboats (USFL) before being signed as a free agent by the New York Giants in May 1986. He then played for the 1987 Denver Dynamite in the Arena Football League. In 1987, he led the Saints to a 2-1 replacement game record and made the regular roster. Over his career, Fourcade passed for 2,312 yards in 24 games for the Saints, with a passer rating of 70.1. He was waived by the Saints in Jul. 1991.[1] In 1993 he played for the Miami Hooters of the AFL. In 2001, he was the general manager, head coach and played in the National Indoor Football League for the Mississippi Fire Dogs.

Fourcade currently serves as an NFL football analyst for WDSU (NBC) New Orleans.

*******************

Fourcade was the first QB I really remember watching. I was in 5th grade in '87, and there are a lot of details I don't remember about that season. But I remember the strike and I remember him.

Fourcade had some local following but this was another number that made me sad. A massive amount of fail...

Career QB Rating for Saints

22.8 Ronnie South (QB) 1968
56.9 Jim Ninowski (QB) 1969
none Ed Burns (QB) 1978-80
59.4 Richard Todd (QB) 1984
69.2 Billy Joe Tolliver (QB) 1998-2000
none Jason Fife (QB) 2006

First #10. Durkee's most productive season was in 1968, when he was responsible for 84 points as the Saints' kicker. He made 19 of 37 field goal attempts and 27 out of 27 extra points. Was replaced by Dempsey in 1969.

They had Barnhardt at #10 because he also wore it for a while. Just FYI sic.

5 more years to learn behind Drew and he will be ready to go. The futures so bright. I love it.

Well boys the day has finally arrived...
#9 Drew Brees
Brees was originally drafted by the San Diego Chargers out of Purdue with the 1st pick in the 2nd round of the 2001 NFL Draft. His time with the Chargers came to an end after a nasty injury to the end of the 2005 season just as the Saints were coming off a nasty season themselves with all the Katrina stuff swirling around. Brees was signed on March 14, 2006 to a 6 year, $60 million deal. In his time with the Saints he's broken many league and club records and still has two more he can break within the 1st few weeks of the upcoming season. He helped guide the Saints to the Super Bowl XLIV championship. Just recently Brees signed a 5 year, $100 million deal which is well deserved to say the least. To date Brees' career totals are 40,742 passing yards, 281 touchdowns, 146 interceptions, and a passer rating of 94%. Here's to another great season for this outstanding Saint on and off the field
