RIP Dandy... He opened up the sports blog world for me and led me to this site. A truly great fan with a purple and gold soul, who now sleeps with the ghosts of lsu past.

Sorry to hear, will miss this great tiger fan. At least the baseball team was able to let him see one last tigers win.

This is a horrible tragedy. Dandy Don was,in my opinion, the best LSU fan known to date. He will truly be missed. RIP 1936-2012

A true hard core LSU fan and he will be missed. I remember years ago logging into his site near daily when he first started his site. LSU news was hard to come by in those days
That's the truth. I remember my first year after I graduated...I was in Washington D.C. finishing up an internship in late '99 and struggling to find good info on my beloved Tigers. A guy I worked with, also an LSU alum told me about Don's site. From that day, Dandydon.com has been the first website I visit in the morning.
He was a great Tiger.
Dandy Don...you will be missed.

You got to love a man who never picked against LSU.

Always loved his stories of growing up poor in rural Louisiana.

I knew this day was likely coming soon, and what a loss! Like so many others, I read Don's column daily and before TD came along, it was my main source for LSU news, especially living out of state. I saw him four times--at three National Signing Days and once made a special trip through Lafayette before going to the Spring football game and met with Don and all his group at Community Coffee. He was the truest of true Tigers and provided a great service to all fans.
