I never banked on us ending up with the first choice in the draft, although I'd love to have it. Anyone who does is setting themselves up for disappointment. There certainly is no guarantee that Washington will end up picking up number 1. In fact there's a 75% chance it will not. Sooooo . . . a lot of this is silly. Who knows how the ping balls will land?

But let's assume we don't get a top three pick. Is there actually a consensus here that our two picks out of the top ten won't significantly help this club? That they're worthless. Or is it just a matter of what "might have been"?

ETA: To put it another way, is it either Anthony Davis or the Hornets are doomed for eternity?

As winner of the HT Tourney Bracket, my opinion is the most valid on this board. It's best to agree.

VOR, I agree with what you're saying, and it's definitely a case of "what could have been."

I've daydreamed about a 4-5 year core of Gordon/Davis/Drummond

I'm a childish fool for getting my hopes up like that, but I also know that we can still have a great draft no matter how the balls land. Demps and Monty have already earned a great deal of trust, in my opinion.
