With this CBA, teams have zero problem moving up to grab players they want, because they don't have to mortgage their franchise to grab them. I think it was pretty telling that BB moved up not once, but twice.

Which is better for the league

It drives up excitment for the draft and makes it much more watchable

Should have happened a long time ago

And you don't have teams paying max contracts to unproven players.

Which allows them to get into camp and not hinder their development through a holdout. Basically the NFL is cutting out the shady middlemen (the agents) and helping out the rookies, veterans, and the teams in their own way

dude

the NFL is just regulating itself to protect itself and its owners, b/c they are the reasons why contracts got so high

justin smith had a pretty long holdout, too

i do think with the contracts top 5 picks had negative value in the old system. too much money for unproven players. however, that should have facilitated more trades; the problem is teams still overvalued those picks

i think there were a lot of trades this dratt b/c you basically had

luck
RG3
claiborne
kalil
richardson

then, it was a bunch of evenly-rated guys with some still left on the board

there was also a lack of premium positions after the top 5. there weren't anymore elite QBs. no more elite LTs. no elite, 2-way pass rushers. 1 elite CB

Can't blame anyone for trying to get as much money as they can, why limit it to busts like JR?

You think Peyton Manning didn't milk his rookie deal for all he could?

and then when they ask the experts who "won" the draft they always say : 1. the patriots cause they pickd up blah blah future picks and 2. whichever team had 2 first round picks

Schefter said the Bucs did the best yesterday by picking a safety at 7 and a boise state RB.
