What would the Hornets be willing to pay for Dragic or Lin? What would be their interest level?

What other guys are interesting options?

I do like Jack and Vasquez; however, as people mention drafting a PG what are the opinions about PG in free agency.

Dragic will probably get 6-8 per. He'll be overpaid a bit.

Lin I have no idea. I haven't seen enough from him to consider him more than a flash in the pan. He will definitely get overpaid for his "star power".

We know the Hornets will have interest in Dragic.

Some team will drastically overpay for Dragic, hopefully it isn't us.
My guess, Portland.

Jeremy Lin had his 15 minutes of fame.
he's pretty much the real-life Henry Rowangartner.

I'm not typing that PG list out again, but I think we will make an attempt to go after Dragic. I hope D-Will will at least listen to our sales pitch. Depending on who we land in the draft, I would have to think we would be somewhat attractive especially over an aging Dallas team.

i totally agree with that, but if he's not your 'without a doubt' starting PG, is he worth throwing 8-9 million dollars at?

Hell to the no. I don't see Dragic wanting to come here or any team for that matter unless he was guaranteed the staring PG spot.

yes, his numbers are better. I understand that.
but not drastically better that you need to out-bid other teams to get him.

my point is, he'll end up getting anywhere from 7-9 million a year from somebody... I just hope its not us.

Dragic's production as a starter this year has been ridiculous. In 23 starts he's averaged 18.2 points on 50 percent shooting, 39 percent from deep, and 86 percent from the line, 3.5 boards, 8.4 assists, 1.9 steals, and just under two treys a game. Those are elite numbers.

On top of that hes only 25 years old

This team needs a PG of the future, and Jarrett Jack is not that. 8-9 million is a lot of money, I agree... but elite starting PGs arent cheap, and this guy has shown flashes of being just that. Id be okay with it.

Obviously PG is a critical position but think of the recent NBA champions. Dallas won it with a solid veteran PG in Jason Kidd that is stil good but not "elite." The Lakers won with an aging Derek Fischer. When Boston won Rondo was good but it was definitely the play of the Big 3 that got the job done.

An elite point guard helps, but isn't necessary in this league. Its not like Qbs in the NFL

Lin is probably going to a huge Asian market b/c let's face it - he's worth his weight in gold in a New York or Portland or Los Angeles (maybe even DC) but he'd not be a huge draw in an OKC.

Plus you get the "Drew Brees factor". He's a free agent so he doesn't tie up a draft pick. The Saints would have wound up reaching for Vince Young or Matt Leinart in the draft if we hadn't signed Brees. Instead of spending our second 1st round pick on a PG we can take a flyer on a 4 or 5.
