find a friend that can aluminum weld

Cut canoe in half and weld a bulk head on the cut end of each side. Drill holes in bulk head so you can bolt it together with stainless bolts and Wing nuts. Use neoprene washers.

It sounds crazy but the two halves would make a hell of a conversation piece in your apparment, it would be easier to transport, and if done with good craftsmanship should be just as stable and useful of a canoe as before.

I'm not going to take apart a Grumman canoe from the 70s.


The thing is still rather experience. They were one of the best canoes of their time.

I like your free-standing stand idea. I could easily make one out of wood. My only problem is to have a way to miss the TV as I enter and leave while carrying the canoe.

If I knew someone that lived about 200 yards from the lakes I'd totally store it there. I have no problem portaging a canoe on my shoulders that distance.


That also eliminates the truck cover problem.
