Wife and I are heading to the city this weekend and are looking to avoid tourist traps. Any local suggestions I could tell the cab driver to stop at would be greatly appreciated.

a search will turn up a lot of great options. This board as a whole does not really recommend many tourist traps.
but if you want better info, a price point and type of food you are looking for would help

Liuzza's is my personal favorite. Big Frosted mugs of root beer, huge platters of seafood, great onion rings, and cheap enough for me to afford.

This thread has really brought up some interesting topics. I think the line between "tourist trap" and a regular good restaurant in N.O. is very had to find.
Just because alot of tourist visit a place does it make it bad? Just because a restaurant is in a touristy area, does that make it a tourist trap?
There has been some good points in this thread.
