#12 makes me sad. Failure to pursue knowledge in this field makes one a slave to those who present "the" history (as they have no basis of knowledge to question/verify).

However, it's also true, and has been for a damned long time.

I love history, but college history classes were nothing short of a survey of liberal revisionism. Even if you disagree with that, 3-4 history classes are still required for general ed purposes.

As far as being a "good degree to get into grad school", I think those are generally piss poor degrees for grad school, other than an easy route to a high GPA. The business grads that went to law school have a much higher success rate than poli sci/history/etc. as they have an extra set of useful skills, as opposed to a journalism undergraduate who knows how to write and has a law degree.
