Ive looked into it. Looks like BC and Alaska are about as good as it gets. I could manage a once in a lifetime trip someday for around 10 grand but its looking like it would be closer to 20. Anybody got anything?

Also if you were gonna go hunt anything outside of going to africa or something, staying in Canada/US for around 10 grand or less what would it be and where ?

Have hunted a few moose and caribou in my day. If you want pure fun, go on a mountain goat hunt. It's a helluva lot of work, but worth it.

Wouldn't Maine be good moose hunting?
They like swamps I think.

I got a lottery draw a few years ago in Maine. Got one just north of Baxter feeding knee deep in a marshy pond

United States: probably around 300,000, as follows:
Northeast: A wildlife ecologist estimated 50,000 in New York State and New England in 2007.[32]
Upper Midwest: Michigan estimated 433 (in its Upper Peninsula) in 2011,[33] Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources 20-40 (close to its UP border with Michigan) in 2003, Minnesota 5600 in its northeast in 2010,[34] and under 100 in its northwest in 2009;[35] North Dakota closed, due to low moose population, one of its moose-hunting (geographic) units in 2011, and issued 162 single-kill licenses to hunters, each restricted to one of the remaining nine units.[36]
Rocky Mountain states: Wyoming is said to have the largest share in its 6-state region, and its Fish and Game Commission estimated 7,692 in 2009.[37]
Alaska: The state's Department of Fish and Game estimated 200,000 in 2011.[38]

Alaska is a beast.

I don't think most people realize how undeveloped Maine is though. Look at a road map of Maine some time. There's roads on the SE coast, and lots of nothing for much of the rest of the state. I had customers in New England in a previous job. Beautiful place.

I have yet to experience the magic of Alaska though.

Edit: Oh, and I worked with a guy from Canada once. I think he was from Edmonton. Definitely some place in Alberta. Anyway... he said the moose were such a pain in the arse to deal with, because they were so big, the almost would never shoot one that wasn't within winching distance from the road. Oh, and they still killed quite a few, because the moose come out on the roads all the time to lick the salt that gets put on the road.

Knew a lady who's husband was a pilot, and they left Alaska for Maine. They enjoy it there because it's more developed than Alaska, but still has some semi wild places. Interior of the state is fairly undeveloped (relatively) and offers some very good outdoor activities. It's my favorite state east of the Rockies.

As far as sporting experiences go, Moose hunting isn't one of the tops unless you are bow hunting. They are a literal beast to pack out as well but the meat is fantastic.

It is very good. It makes really good sausage and pepperoni. I have some of each in the fridge. Also grilling some mooose steaks today I got from a friend who shot one near Tok.

They will come up an lick your car. Interesting seeing cars running around with moose lickings all over them.

How I feel. Still cool though, and the meat is great.
