Why? Is he a proven recruiter, or college asst. coach? Just wondering.

No he's not. But he's an accomplished NBDL coach who has had a career in the NBA. He's also greatly connected to the AAU scene in New Orleans and around the state.

Also, every single high school coach in the state knows who he is from having coached against him, seen him, or just heard of him. In high school, he was a 3-time All-State selection, 2-time National Player of the Year, and McDonald's All-American. That kind of stuff matters to 17 and 18 year olds. They are both impressed by it and want to accomplish that.

Also, he could've gone to ANY school in the nation and chose to go to LSU. What better person to have on a staff and sell kids on why they should go to LSU rather than another school? There isn't one.

So you have someone familiar with LA high school and AAU basketball and those coaches, someone who had a prolific high-school career, who was recruited to and chose to attend LSU over every school in the nation, went on to have a career in the NBA and wants to be at LSU. Sounds like a pretty good fit for an assistant coach.
