Pepe lunged forward and threw his body into Gomez. That's not a shoulder to shoulder challenge. That's a body check.

Look at the second gif, Ramos comes through and gets the ball and Coentrao comes in late and takes out his other side.

those two should have been penalties.
puh-lease.

Balls out and gone, maybe a yellow for Coentrao for the harsh tackle, maybe (although this type of infraction was not whistled during the match, so why start now?).

Pepe is an idiot, but the ball was already just about in Casillas's posession. Gomez was about two yards too far away to do anything. Pepe did deserve a yellow there, no doubt.

Gomez did get hammered quite a bit, yet he got his reward there at the end. All is good.

I dislike how heavy penalties are... because both of those were clearly fouls, but people have such a hard time saying "here bayern, 2 goals for you" just like the terry foul in iniesta.. even though that MAY have originated outside the box, it was still a foul.

Cahill brought him done on the backline in the box, with Iniesta in control of the ball. I really felt at that point that FCB scoring was just a matter of time, and so did they, as shockingly, there was absolutely no second guessing of the ref or complaining.

BTW Puyol is a beast! I didn't think he still had it in him.

The foul originated outside the box and a free kick should have been awarded. Nothing more or less.

you're talking about Terry, I'm talking about Cahill (he was the only other white defender, correct?). Two different plays.

ETA Just rewatched it. Cahill got pawned, yet recuperated surprisingly well. The call could go either way, and just may have been a good no-call (as Iniesta lets himself go down when contact was felt).

I don't know, looks bad when someone is leaning on a midget, but it doesn't look as if he is muscling him too much

Sporadic contact began outside of the box, and continued contact started on the sideline of the box, then turns into a potential penalty with Iniesta going forward with play into the box, then going down.
