The same people likely aren't working on the same thing.
He'll have a team focusing on rebrand. He has his basketball people working on player development, the draft, Free Agency.
He has people to work on sponsorships, merchandising, etc.
They don't really effect anyone's ability.

I don't care if it means nothing to NOLA. The Hornets brand has too much history as an NBA club. We have altered the logo, colors and lettering to meet the culture of NOLA. IMO, we've invested far too much into the Hornets brand to just throw it all away. Benson is rushing this like it has to happen tomorrow. Like Stern said, he technically doesn't even own the team yet. I'd rather focus on player development and recruitment than worrying about name change.
That's fine and all, but when the owner, who paid $338 million, says the name will change, none of that matters.

like someone in the other 50,000 name change threads mentioned, they have Hornets gear all over the world. "Not just the city, the world, Craig" - Cousin DayDay

i hope Benson isn't so cheap he's paying the person to both scout and make a few doodles of names and mascots

Krewe is stupid.
i think it will be an old name. Pelicans is the obvious choice. Buccaneers possibly.

I'm saying as an organization, a name change should not be the first order of business.

I really don't think Buccaneers will ever be used again. Everyone would call us the BUCS and there is a team in Milwaukee called the BUCKS, would cause confusion for the idiots out there.
Saw a guy wearing an old school New Orleans Pelicans tshirt at the game on Sunday, maybe he knows something we don't

So then there would be the Bucs and the Bucks?
I don't think that would happen.
The Krewe (I HATE) would often be misspelled and it reminds me of a semi-pro or Triple A team.
Also: The honey bee, Apis mellifera, became the official state insect in 1983 (Utah Code) through the lobbying efforts of a fifth grade class. The honey bee is significant in Utah history, as Utah was first called by its Mormon settlers, "The Provisional State of Deseret," a Book of Mormon word meaning honey bee.

Utah is known as the beehive state... so we should just trade names. lol

naw. it just sounds like an MLS or WNBA name and lacks national/regional appeal, imo.

I understand and if NO were the Buccaneers what would everyone call them?
The Bucs and it would be confusing to some.

It's going to be Krewe. Yall might as well get used to it.
Posted on 4/16/12 at 3:52 pm to ECOTIGER
i dont think that is the top choice, but it makes more sense than some of the newer names being brought up.
you'd really have to be simple minded to get those confused. That's just my opinion though.

There's the Tampa Bay Bucs, The Milwaukee Bucks and then the New Orleans Bucs? That shite ain't happening.
It will be something unique and singularly New Orleans, I would imagine.
