I enjoy Arby's enthusiasm when he does something good, like steal a base, hit a triple or even just get a hit by beating a throw to first.
He does a fist pump and his grin lights up the field.
I know in baseball some people think a reaction like his is hot dogging it or trying to show up the opponent. I say it's a kid having fun playing the game of baseball....and I like seeing that.

He solidified his start. Last week his triple sparked a comeback over Fla. That I think earned him a start.

I have more faith with Arby at the plate than Foster, Moore, or Sciambra when he was healthy. And considering, and I like those three a lot. I realize they're all freshmen, but it's all their first year really at LSU.
Also, his fielding as been outstanding. There were a couple balls hit in the gaps this weekend that Dugas for Alabama couldn't quite come up with that I think Arby tracks down with his speed. Super valuable.

He's the fastest player we've had since Mitchell, and is also a huuuge threat to steal and force errors.

I had no idea he was starting at northwestern his freshman year at tailback. We may look back at the shakeup in the rotation by the end of this season as a turning point.
Very similar to the changeup that lead us to the title a few years ago. Except for the injuries, of course.

I don't feel like digging for it but im sure someone can inform us. I see he was a freshman all-big 10 performer in both baseball and football at northwestern in 2009-2010 and led NW in rushing in 2010. So if he's clearly that good, why did he leave NW to go to a juco?
Also, I see he played 2 years at NW, 1 at Juco, and is now a jr at LSU. So can you play 5 years if 1 is at the Juco level? But if you redshirt at the NCAA level (see Mettenberger) you only get 4 years to play (1 at Juco level, 3 at LSU) hmmmm

I know they mentioned on the radio this weekend that Arby didn't see a future in fb and wanted to concentrate on BB.

ok, still why go the juco route to LSU if you're an freshman all-big 10 performer?
maybe he just felt thats the best route for him to improve his baseball acumen so he can progress on to hopefully the majors?

Seems like all he needed was steady ABs & a chance to adjust to this level of CBB.
Hear he had a pretty rough go of it in fall ball, but looking at the pitching he was facing can't say I blame him.
I just know the LSU marketing department needs to work in a promotion w/ Arby's. 3 hits for Arby = free Big Montanas?

Could've helped him improve like he is now. I was really impressed to see that our third weekend starter, a freshman, has a 3.15 ERA and thats the worst of our weekend starters.
but on the flip side, that argument didn't work too well for our quarterback play now did it?

im not saying why go to a juco route, im saying why leave a big 10 school if you're already having success there?

Probably thought he could get more exposure playing big time college baseball

Maybe he wanted to wind up with a championship type program where he could be noticed by the scouts rather than playing for NW.
BTW, LSU recruited Fields out of high school to play baseball but at that time he wanted to play football, too, and LSU didn't have a football scholarship for him.
So when he gave up football and transferred to JUCO after his one year there, PM approached Fields' JUCO coach for a progress report, liked what he heard and decided to take a chance on Fields.
