Quen and roll-dodge. Also, yrden and traps do him in pretty well.

Either use yrden to stop him in his tracks,
Or
Use aard to stun him right before he can get his quen up. Move in for some sword strikes, dodge out. don't let him use quen.
Dodge his bombs, and igni/aard
Also, go to load game, and choose the autosave right before u enter the battle. Put some potions on, then engage the encounter. I used a mongoose pot cause fricko's poisoned blades were wreckin me

Yes, but IMO they make shite harder than it needs to be, I don't mind difficult but some of this shite is insane like trying to find siiver ore for my witcher sword.
I want north on my map to stay north, i hate rotating mini maps.
One more thing, why can't I frikkin change key binds without logging out of the game.

Being able to line of sight mobs is kind of cheesy, but given the combat difficulty I don't mine.

Try the nekker cave for silver ore? Dunno. I used the cash advance I negotiated to buy a silver sword. maybe some merchants have ore, too

The main difference I have found between this game and Skyrim is that I don't find it hard to get frustrated and stop for the night with Witcher 2, while in Skyrim I found it hard to go to bed and stop playing.

I can agree with that. Witcher 2 offers some frustrating challenges. Plenty more await you.
Personally, I just defeated the Golem. Also finally figured out how to use mutagens
