LSU 1986 - 43 Second Mark
North Texas Speech
11-12 Highlights - Watch this one...history of JJ @ UNT 50 Sec - 2:15 Also 3:35 mark on Sun Belt Post Season Success under JJ.
Coaching/ Practice - See 1:05 mark
Seems like a humble guy and actually made basketball relevant at UNT. I like the hire more after seeing some of this. Recruited some talent to UNT which can't be easy.
Gotta embrace him now no matter what we wanted.

I've watched. There's more interest in the Noeth Texas program than at LSU. LSU doesn't have Anywhere near the amount of marketing that UNT did.
Maybe we can get them to supportsa johnnyjones.net like they do lesmiles.net. Everyone loves that stuff.

Absolutely incredible to believe LSU basketball was like that, and I remember it all. Thought it would go on forever.
I'll take Johnny Jones. Dude's been in one place for 12 years, just as long at LSU as player and assistant coach.
This is it people. Time to get on the "Go Johnny Go" bandwagon.

I don't buy into the fallacy that basketball at LSU can't be relevant again. I can remember when a brash young coach came into BR from North Dakota of all places. He came in with evangelical fervor and single-handedly jump started a dormant program with his enthusiasm and positive thinking. Marketing will go a long way, that is for sure, but what is needed is a coach with a vision and who can engender enthusiasm and positive thinking once again. LSU can become synonymous with winning basketball again. LSU is already a powerful brand name in football and baseball and track. Why not basketball also? The one thing that will cure all of this stagnation is WINNING. Did we care all that much about LSU baseball until Skip Bertman came into town and worked his magic at Alex Box and Rosenblatt? Let's give Johnny Jones our support and the benefit of the doubt. He turned things around at North Texas and recruited very well. He can do the same at LSU and I like the fact that he is a former Tiger. There is no doubting his loyalty and I think we should show enough respect to a former player and coach to give him a warm welcome and our enthusiastic support. The LSU tradition that produced a Bob Petit, a Pistol Pete Maravich, and a Shaquille O'Neal can definitely be revived to its former prominence.
