musicians as they are right now. 3 acts. Any venue you want. What do you go with?

I think most are missing the crucial part of the OP.

Venue: Red Rocks

Opener: Hot Chip (get the crowd energized and moving)

Act 1: The New Pornographers (Dan Bejar, Neko Case and Carl Newman...self explanatory)

Act 2: Wilco (play the entire Yankee Foxtrot Hotel album as a set and then another set of their classics)

Varsity (really good acoustics there IMO)

open: Dr. John (smooth funk)

middle: MuteMath (incredible live show)

headliner: Black Keys (every song pumps me up from the new album)

The Roots play at the after party till the break of dawn. Then Prince shows up with pancakes for everyone.

those outdoor places look beautiful, but a smaller, intimate show inside is where it's at, IMO.

Open -- Grace Potter and the Nocturnals

Middle -- The Black Keys

Close -- Jack White (in some variation)

I enjoy both, it just all depends. There is something surreal about being in a place with an incredible landscape watching/listening to music. It adds another dynamic to it. For a blues show, I'd love a small setting as well. Red Rocks or the Gorge (haven't gone yet) is just something I advise any true music lover to experience.
