Again in my opinion they are just ok

Never really given them a chance to be honest. I'm surprised and impressed you didn't mention the Sex Pistols. They're a fricking abortion in my opinion.

What??

I don't fault anyone for liking it but I don't see the appeal of listening to musicians with intentionally bad musicianship?

You like what you like and thats cool but I prefer for my bands to know their way around their chosen instrument.

Well that's really not what punk is about and also punk rock to me means a lot more than what you're probably thinking it is.

I like the Ramones and The Clash a lot and respect what they contributed but pure, old school punk rock isn't what I would listen to first choice. But a lot of my favorite musicians are seeped in punk rock or at least post punk and the new york music scene of the early to mid 80's. Dinosaur Junior. Patti Smith. Sonic Youth. People who really elevated the artistic elements at the core of what the original british punk rock movement was about.

I'm sure it does. Punk Rock is a very distinct and important development in modern music. A lot of people adore and love it. I personally never got it, thats all I was saying. I respect the way it changed the face of modern music but I don't understand how it ever got that amount of popularity to begin with.

It is not an inferior form of music just one that I don't get the appeal of.

To give you an example: when someone says punk rock to me, the first thing I think of is Johnny Cash.

I can see the connection and if he was the actual epitome of punk rock then I would love the genre but when most people here punk rock they think of who?

The Sex Pistols who were a complete and total disgrace to music imo.

Our definition of punk rock varies an obnoxiously huge amount. I gather our definition of alot of music varies a great deal.

The Sex Pistols are more important for what the were reacting to and what the represented than for anything they actually did musically.

HOB - NOLA

Opens with Joe Bonamassa

Transitions to Buddy Guy seamlessly

Allman Brothers close it out

Encore - a 20+ minute version of Whipping Post with Joe, Buddy, Derek & Warren each with 3 minute guitar solo...after, Dickey Betts walks on stage in a shocking reunion with a 1 time only performance of Blue Sky.

Hey, a guy can dream.

I don't think that is the entire point. To me it was more a revolution against the 5-10 minute songs, 20 min solos, 3 and a half hour long shows of bands such as Led Zeppelin, etc. they wanted to play something quick and fast and not flesh everything out. It was a lot more raw and power than theatrics and performance.
To clarify, i don't dislike Zeppelin in the least bit, just a comparison.
