I'm tagged out in FL. The season ends here in 9 days; however, for all intents and purposes it ended 3 weeks ago.
It appears the unusually warm and dry weather started the breeding early and the season was over before it really got started in Central Florida. The first week was strong and declined rapidly thereafter. Turkey numbers were very good, but with the breeding activity already wrapped up it made things very tough. I've heard reports of poults on the ground from several hunters and Biologists in the area. The earliest I've ever seen them is the first week of May.
I know a few very good turkey hunters that got shut out this year in Central FL. South FL managed to get spared as their season opens two weeks prior. I managed to get my birds plus worked 3 birds with friends that ended up taking a ride in the truck.
I'm taking the next week or two off before heading to Tennessee and Oklahoma for a hunt.
