the 73 game was my first game ever, too. They were throwing oranges at Bear Bryant, but miraculously NONE hit him!
As for the End Zones, yes they did this. I also remember going to Jackson, MS and they would have Ole Miss vs Alabama then LSU vs Moo St the SAME DAY! In the end Zones would be two stars in each corner with each of the four teams colors...pretty cool.

The Auburn game I remember was in 72 at night. Jones and Hamilton dominated Auburn. It was Auburns only loss that season. When LSU scored on the first play of the game was in 69. I was at both games. The 72 game was at night and the 69 game was during the day.
