I think this guy has what it takes to be the next
S. Smart.
-He is young, has a ton of swagga, and seems like a very game in-game coach and game manager. Many times they were just out-manned when facing big time programs. He coached kids up that got overlooked at most places. Imagine what he can do with even more talented kids.
-He seems to like the up-tempo offense and high-pressure defense.
-Played point guard in college and holds a Degree in Marketing
-Recruited two 1000-point scores, some all-conference players and runner-ups, conference defensive player of the year
- He, being from NY, has east coast ties where the most talent is in basketball. With so much talk about wanting a guy with Louisiana ties, people are overlooking the fact that basketball is much different from football. Football's most talent is in the south. Basketball is in the east. It doesn't matter where you're from if you can recruit. Players will follow a great coach anywhere.
-Players love and respect him
-Made it to the second round of the NCAA Tourn.
I think we should at least give this guy some consideration if we can't find that big-name coach that everyone wants to make a splash.

The candidate definitely needs a degree in marketing because selling people on showing up at the PMAC has not been easy since Daddy Dale left

it cost money to recruit the east coast and its hard to spend money going out there and talking to kids who dont want to come this far south

He's a better option than some retread.

NO comment. If LSU has to pull a coach from small potatoes like that then they are not committed to their bb program. I don't care how good he is, recruits will go elsewhere and the fan base will not be energized.

Might be a good one.......if LSU is interested......
Norfolk State athletics director Marty Miller told Sporting News on Saturday he has a "gut feeling" that Anthony Evans will get multiple calls this spring from bigger programs with head coaching vacancies to fill.
Evans, who led them to the greatest win in program history Friday, has been head coach at NSU since '07. He is under contract for two more seasons at a salary believed to be well under $200,000. Sporting News was unable to pin down the exact figure Saturday, but suffice it to say a step up in conference affiliation for Evans, 40, almost surely would come with a significant rise in compensation.
"I already feel it. I expect it. I expect he'll get some calls," Miller said outside a CenturyLink Center interview room in which Evans was speaking to media who witnessed 15th-seeded NSU's momentous 86-84 upset of No. 2 seed Missouri. "I expect he'll get some calls.

"I look every day in the paper, and coaches are getting fired. Somebody has to replace them. You know individuals are out there looking at successful coaches and now at Anthony, especially with him being at Norfolk State and what he had to work with, and just beating one of the top programs in the country. He's a great coach."
Miller also said he expects he and Evans will discuss the coach's contract when the Spartans' NCAA Tournament run is over. But if bigger schools come calling, Miller won't necessarily try to compete with them for Evans' services.
