oops hit post

But- LSU has had plenty of tradition in college athletics. If anything, now is the right time to elevate basketball the way football was elevated.

The two sports are fairly parallel, historically:

football prior to Saban, all the way back to the early 60's- good to very good, not quite able to win it all. But known

basketball- prior to Dale Brown- known for having the Pistol, the single greatest player ever. Dale's tenure- consistently good, usu in the NCAA's, with occasional runs to the Final Four. Prior to SEC expansion, LSU was the only team to seriously challenge Kentucky on an annual basis.

With the right hire, we could return to that

Elite coaches want to be at a school that their sport is center stage. Of course there are a couple of exceptions but LSU isn't one of them.

They're not. The people on here who say that have inferiority complexes to begin with.

there are several answers.

1. we pay far less than market value
2. facilities are average at best even with recent renovations
3. support from fans, administration, boosters is lukewarm

but $$$$ is by far the main reason, $$$$ for salary for HC, ASST, and Recruiting Budget and $$$$ for facility upgrades and $$$$ for program support from TAF types
