It was a dumb move by Harper. But Steve smith really deserved it.

The Harper hit was dumb and unsportsmanlike, but not dangerous.
Exactly. I mean, this is football, there has to be nastier hits out there.
Yall are lucky you really don't have any raging assholes on the defense, if this had happened to NE, there would be eye gouge video after eye gouge video.

I agree with this 100%
Maybe thats why Goodell picked us to come down so hard on. He can scapegoat us for the bounties without showing too many actually brutal hits. I mean if he outed the Steelers or the Lions (assuming they have bounty programs) the media would be playing clips of Harrison and Sue all day, and they have some nasty viscous highlight reals. And it would have looked way worse on the NFL. Just a thought.

Interesting, I never really thought about it like that. That is a reasonable argument, and just watching a youtube fan video of James Harrison is enough to make me cringe.

Yeah that thought just donned on me as i read your post. Think how bad it would be if the last few weeks instead of just talking about how insane the Saints were and bounties and etc... they had footage of actual brutal hits playing 24/7. Or think ho bad it would be if they had one single play from the 49ers game backing up Williams pregame speech. It would look way worse on the NFL. this way Goodell can take a stance against violence without drawing too much attention to the actual violence in football. Its kind of a win win for him.

I was thinking about that when we started down this train of thought. A McGehee type knee injury with that crazy speech in the background could have hurt the NFL terribly.

Definitely. The last thing Goodell would have wanted was nonstop looping of extremely violent plays on national media outlets. Im talking about Fox and CNN, who have been covering this story, not just ESPN and NFLN

Just pursuing a different angle.
Do you have anything to add that hasn't been mentioned before?

He should've just asked JaWalrus Russell for some Purple Drank, IMO. And then cooked up some meth with Ryan Mallett. POS Thug.

Well, in Cam's defense, he got to dance it more in 3 games than JJ did in his entire career.
