Not saying the intent is to hurt opposing players, but my players get these on their helmet when they make a big hit......and the kids basically do anything to fill their helmets up.

I used to love helmet stickers

I honestly see the school putting an end to it if they find out what they represent.

Bounty Stickers are no longer allowed.

Coach Cespiva never taught you any cheap shots?

J/k - good man and good staff there.

Coach Cess!!! He was the O-Line coach at the time so i never worked directly with him. I can't say for certain that he never told them guys anything like that, but I never saw or heard anything like that. Same thing with Coach Shaver....all coached with class. Coach Crawford was the secondary coach and I worked with him and Coach Cutrera (LB coach) a lot. Neither one ever encouraged cheap shots or trying to injure an opponent.

This is the equivalent of a boxing trainor encouraging devastating body blows in a fight. It is a figure of speech.

My old coach in 4th grade always said - "the body goes where the head goes."

Best of luck with your coaching career.

Correct. "Kill the head" is a euphamism for make their arse quit. If their head isn't in it, if they are tentative, looking over their shoulder, hearring footsteps, you have won the battle. Winning the game is sure to follow.

I heard plenty of speeches similar, especially since I was a defensive player. To be honest if there were a huge pile up I'm grabbing for a neck or something just enough for them to know you're there. There were plenty of schools that just loved to talk smack, so If i had the chance to lay a shot on the guy, why not go for it? I would never go after a guy to tear his ACL, which is the main thing I disagree with about the speech, but being agressive is part of the game.

it was sarcasm bro

this shite has gotten way more press than it should. all of this is to get the attention of the public off of the shitty economy and Obama's record as an utter failure as president.
When your solution to all the world's woes are to blame somebody else yet offer no real solutions yourself...well, ya can't let people focus on THAT.

Played High School and Semi-Pro and its basically just hype talk. The media is making the NFL blow this all out of proportion.

when hockey players are punching each other in the face im pretty sure they are intending to hurt each other and the refs let it go on and espn thinks its ok, i played in high school and our coaches just told us to give 110% and "if he dies .....he dies"

Exactly. Especially if they lay the first good hit on you. The amount of trash talking on the field was awesome, you had bad blood in every game. We would play teams where I had buddies on the other team and we were still out to get each other, I'm talking shots to the head or the mid section though, the ACL thing is way out of bounds.

Offenses also ran the ball a lot more on us back then also. It was the late '90s, you still would face teams that threw it more sometimes but mostly teams ran the Power-I and Wing-T formations. The cut block was used a lot more back then. Now with the spread offense dominating the high school game, I haven't seen the cut block used as much. I'm sure they still teach it and you see it every once in awhile but when I watch local games here, I don't see it much.

high school early mid 90's.

no we were never told to take out a players knees, head, etc.....

we were told to go out there, knock the shite out of the opposing teams players any chance we got, and if the pussies couldn't be a man and get up Oh well time to knock the shite out of his back-up.

I don't want to see anymore of the head high tackling you take your shoulder pads and put them through his chest, I only want to see snot bubbles.

FWIW: In one game I had an OL hitting me in my kidneys with his fist ever play he was hooking my shoulder pads with one hand pushing them up into my throat while reaching around with the other hand to kidney punch me ( I pissed blood for a week after the game), the ref was a home town good ole boy who wouldn't throw a flag for shite. Some how or another on one particular play a particular player took out his knee and caused him to tear his ACL and lose his scholarship to LA Tech. Guess karma can be a bitch sometimes.
