That first picture is surreal.

Thanks, a drizzly day is usually a poor day for photography but the trees through the clouds really added a lot to the shot.

The first shot is an eagle flying over the Chilkat River, second is also from Haines and the bears are crossing the road next to the Chilkat River. Last two shots are from Homer. Gotta do that trip again someday, maybe in 2 or 3 years.

Going up to Chilkoot lake at the end of the month. Haines is where I am going to "retire."

Don't get me wrong, they're all beautiful pictures, but the first caught my eye.

He has some awesome pics he took on his trip last summer. Great wildlife zooms.

I remember him posting pics. Great shots. Wish I had a decent camera.

Great pictures. Those were not taken with a point and shoot...

I need better lenses, just don't want to spend that kind of money.

I made the decision to invest in a good camera when my first kid was about 3. I pointed out to my wife that the photos we were missing with the kid growing up and vacation that we were taking would never be repeated. My point and shoot was to slow for action and just not very good. I have spent more than I needed but am much happier with my photos. Now I need the time to improve my photo knowledge and skills…

I have a really good Canon P&S with a 35x zoom lens, but it is slow and processing time lags quite a bit. It has limitations. Got a Pentax digital SLR and love it. Just need to upgrade lenses a bit, I am kind of rough on them and need some better weather resistant ones.

I have a Nikon D90 and the original 18-200 lens. I picked up later, a 50mm 1.4 and a wide angle Tokina 11-16mm 2.8. I would be real happy if I could pick up a 70-200mm 2.8 in the next couple of years. I recently picked up Lightroom and have started playing with a little editing.

I want a good telephoto that goes out to 300mm. Lightroom is awesome, I can't imagine doing without it. Shoot mainly in RAW.

My camera allows both jpeg and RAW at the same time. A good friend and I have been talking about making a photo safari to Africa. For something like that I would probably rent a lens...

yeah, I can shoot JPEG, RAW or JPEG + RAW. If I am indoors and taking pix of the kids, I will use JPEG only. Anything else, RAW

What are they doing downtown? Are they hanging out by the river?

I see bald eagles from time to time down in the spillway.
