Yeah but it is suffice to say he won't be leaving this off season.
Yea, just like Saban said he would stay at LSU or "wouldn't be the coach at Alabama"
Sorry, I put exactly ZERO stock in a coach saying he's not interested in coaching somewhere.

LSU : Saban : 2003 :: Kentucky : Calipari : 2012
Very testy fan bases when it came to those subjects at those times. I don't know why people have so much trouble with the simple reality that any coach will accept any job for the right price.
I doubt an NBA franchise will pony up what it will take to lure Cal back to the pros, but it certainly is conceivable. Tip for Kentucky fans: even if he stays until he goes grayer than Steve Martin, there's nothing in it for you to get too attached to him.

NBA you only get 1 first round draft pick a year.
Kentucky, you get like 4 of the top 8 picks in the high school draft each year.

So now we can put that to rest.
It'll never get put to rest because of "coach speak" when it comes to these things. But that's part of having a sought-after coach. I don't think he goes at this point, but he's achieved the elusive NC so all bets are off IMO.
I can rest easy knowing as long as Barnhart entrusts guys like Mike Pratt with our BB coaching searches we'll be able to line up a good coach if he goes. Been there, done that, and come out alright.

Kentucky should get Kelvin Sampson to replace Cal.

But that's part of having a sought-after coach.
And UK is as much of a destination job as exists in college sports. Even Duke has had to deal with Coach K to the Lakers rumors and he's way more established and connected to Duke than Cal will ever be to UK. It's just the nature of the business.

Some serious butt-hurt in this thread

I guess a coach can never ever mean what he says, ever.

I can't tell you how many times we heard Tubby to the Hawks. Year, after year, after year. Even before Pitino left for the Celtics it was like that. It is what it is
I guess it just doesn't get me all that worked up because we've been there. A few times. If he goes, he goes, and we find someone else. If he stays, we make another run for a NC.

He probably doesn't know Calipari and his history with him being a UK fan for 5 months and all.
At least UK is capable of having "bandwagon" fans, unlike Arkansas. Really that is a compliment.
And for the record, I've been a UK basketball fan since 1990, not long after I was born.

Not true, you can take a step up from LSU football, you can't from UK basketball.
The only time I'll ever worry about Cal leaving is when the Heat (or LeBron's current team) job opens up.

Exactly what Pete Carroll kept saying when he was at USC.

Pete Carroll would've never left USC if not for sanctions

So if Howland gets fired you think Calipari will leave for UCLA?

Did I say that? I'm just referring to the fact that Kentucky is not the most storied program like they were inferring.
