The Rolling Stones had a lot of hits, though.

If you want to get technical, although the Andrew Oldham Orchestra version of "The Last Time" is what The Verve sampled

Jackie Blue?

Ozark Mountain Daredevils maybe?

Did they have another hit? (I know they sold alot and had a following, but did they chart again is the question)

I still laugh thinking about the Spinal Tap movie, when they're sitting in the hotel room and their Rolling Stonesesque =As times go by- type song comes on the radio, and the radio announcer closes it with -a band who's in the where are they now category-.

I have heard that song 100's of times. Never seen the band. I would have bet the singer was black.

Not that it matters.

Can't link from my phone but Morphine's Bueno would probably be in there for me.

Not a lot of people realize how great that band was.Sandman was brilliant.

Mark Sandman. The dude was amazing.Kind of reminds me of Jack White.Posthumously of course.

quote:

His instruments were extensively altered and sometimes built by hand. In Morphine, he usually played a two-string slide bass guitar tuned to a fifth, and sometimes a unitar (named after the one-stringed instrument in American blues tradition), and three-string slide bass with one bass and two unison strings tuned an octave higher (usually to A). He sometimes paired bass strings with one or two guitar strings, creating the "basitar" "tri-tar" and "guitbass." T

Blind Melon (although I have a hard time with that classification)

you bite your tongue! Nico is a great album.

Though I'm sure we are talking about main stream. Which would classify "No Rain" as a one hit wonder as none of their other songs took off as wildly as "no rain" did.

ETA: I'd go with, Dexy's Midnight Runners - Come on Eileen
