1. Scott Van Pelt

Van Pelt is in his early 40's and he's anchored SportsCenter for a decade. Toss in the daily radio show, his background at the Golf Channel, and his social media savvy and it's no surprise that many in sports media expect for Van Pelt to cash in big time when his contract comes up this year.

The top contenders?

ESPN and NBC.

Will Van Pelt leave behind the friendly confines of ESPN for NBC's new cable experiment?

We'll see.

But his contract sure is coming on to the market at the perfect time.

Well, they got SVP right.. but I don't know if I just don't like a lot of people on that list or what.. not a fan of the rest of the draft.

svp over dan patrick is laughable. dp is the best in the biz hands down.

I don't disagree, but SVP reminds me of a younger Dan Patrick in many ways.

1, 2. and 3 are good. after that the list gets pretty shaky.
i would have dp over svp, but its no big deal.
fowler should be at 4 imo.

I like DP as well, but this is a draft and 1) Patrick is in his 50's. 2) his best work is playing off someone. Whether it's KO or the "danette's"and SVP can hold it by himself

ETA My biggest disagreement is having Simmons way down at 13. If Simmons would agree to do to more TV and/or radio he would be ahead of guys like Colin Cowherd and Herbstreet

I rolled my eyes at #4 and then quit taking it serious at #5

Gruden at 4 is kind stupid, but I understand Cowherd at 5. The logic behind Cowherd is spot on. You either love him or hate, but either way people listen to his show. Throw in his his TV ability and yeah he is top 5.

Bayless has the "love him or hate him troll" crown right now so if that's their reasoning he should be in that spot.

Jim Nantz needs to be given more props than he's getting. He's way better than Tirico and having Gruden ahead of him is a joke.

I kind of see that, but Bayless only has a midling afternoon cable show to fall back on.

Cowherd has a national radio show and a more succesful TV show(though whether that is bc of him or Beadle is a different thread)

You are right though that Skip is the king of hate/love troll right now

I would say that is too low based on the criteria of the list. She gets a reaction out of people, period. Just look at all the TD threads that pop up about her. Regardless of quality, she is the female version of Skip Bayless in that people will watch to hate her.

I like Nantz better than the other 2 as well, but not being on ESPN hurts him
