a word of advice: if you want to work LHSAA go to fast pitch softball. the games rarely last more than an hour, damn near every game has at least one team with a stud pitcher that just strikes everybody out. Nobody has lights on their field so they play at 3:30 and you will usually be walking to your car for 4:45. LHSAA fast pitch umps make the same game fee as baseball umps and you will leaving the ballpark while the baseball game is barely halfway done

ETA: almost forgot. Not as many Junior highs have softball so you dont have to work as much junior high softball as you would baseball. You work LHSAA fast pitch and you can also work travel/select tournaments on the weekends and make some major cash. Because the softball games take half as long as baseball games they usually work twice as many games on a frid/sat/sunday tourney schedule.

I agree with what he said, especially if all you're after is a quick buck. There are way too many baseball umpires out there who just want to get the game over with no matter how shitty they work.

Please don't bother with baseball unless you care for the game. Thanks.
