Nobody has low expectations for the LSU basketball program. There are realistic ones though.

Next seasons are higher than this years based on our improvement this season. Not that hard to grasp.

Sure there were some bright spots. The problem for me was the mental regression and lack of consistency. Hopefully the young players will mature and that problem works itself out. I can't say it all falls on the staff, but certainly they are to be held accountable for the finished product.

+1

I recall most ranters saying at the beginning of the season that a NIT berth was the expectation this season. Now, many did not forsee the SEC's success against the power conferences like we did. That said, before the late season 3-game losing streak is the only time period that most LSU fans had any dream of the NCAA.

If this was 2008, lsu wouldn't have even sniffed the NCAA at any point.

Ok, maybe we need to adjust our position a little. If Joe retains TR then this communicates an incredibly small (and unacceptable) increment for improvement.

Now that the season has played out TR needs to go. That's a realistic expectation. Either get the job done or be gone.

Totally agree. You don't go from occasional tourney team to legit contender in 1 or 2 years. We bottomed out in 09/10 and 10/11, got depth and young talent (all 5 starters coming back) and a NIT bid this year and next year the expecations will be a tourney bid and strong SEC record.

That is a reasonable, rationale and (in my opinion) the right way to manage a program if you are Alleva. If we stagnate or regress next season then it become an easy decision. I'm very bullish on the team next year however.
