Mid week update. Data for this set was collected from 3/19/12 (12:00 AM) to today, 3/21/12 (1:00 PM). During this time period, there were 40 threads created or discussed involving science/technology, 23* threads created or discussed on topics involving music, and 22 threads created or discussed involving health/fitness. * = there were actually a total of 21 unique music threads for this time period, as two of the threads were repeats on the same topic, and were never removed, as shown below (311 tickets, Black Keys concert in NO). Science and Technology (40 threads) Music (23 threads) Health and Fitness (22 threads)

Are you really expecting sense and excellent, objective research to be considered? I wish it would be, as it makes sense, but you have too many cheerleaders for the other two. Oh well

Well, I think it's time to shut the campaign down. I actually don't think any of the admins have even clicked on this thread. The vocal minority for the music board has been granted their wish, I think, due to the mutual interest on the part of the admin(s) to see such a board incorporated. This shouldn't come as a surprise, as there are a few boards on this site that certainly weren't created due to vociferous demand from the users (soccer, fantasy sports), but instead were created simply because select admins wanted to open such boards. So, it doesn't matter how compelling the data may be, as one's own interests and agenda typically obfuscate and distort the reality of the situation.

Since the Music Board is now live, this board should be the next to become a reality...

I can't attain any more comparison data now that the Music Board is open. I suppose I could collect data for just Health/Fitness vs Science/Technology, but I think we all know what that would look like.

I tend to agree, as I see music as the least discussed topics of the potential boards (before this thread I mean)

Screenshots below are all of the science/technology threads that have been posted on the OT in the last 4 days. The demand is certainly there, but it's not a vocal demand. The demand comes from the high volume of science/tech posts that are submitted every day to the OT. While campaigns for other boards may have a highly vociferous minority, the other topics simply don't have sufficient thread totals to justify dedicated boards. And, as mentioned multiple times, the board would have dualistic utility in that it would actually serve as an aid to those in need of tech help.

8/1 update. This post was actually inspired by the "other viable boards" thread on the OT. So, I went through the OT and collected all of the Technology threads that have been created over the past week, which totaled 94. Also, I changed the title of the thread since it seems more likely that a "Technology" board will become a reality as opposed to a "Science/Technology" board. And I believe a month or so ago, one of the admins mentioned that a Dhilip was "mulling over" the idea of a Technology board. Hopefully we can get an update... Below are all of the Tech threads that were published on the OT over the past week (94 total).

Hey I see my iPhone group messaging thread! I require a royalty tax to use my name for your argument b/c I don't want a technology board.

Deserves an answer. I'm surprised no admin has responded to this thread.
