It is nowhere close to dumb if you think there is risk in losing the one you ask to wait until fall (which we know was possible because of Miller) and you expect Reid to start (which you said yourself).
You have to go with the guy that you think you will need this coming year. If you don't and you lose him, then you have a real problem that can't be fixed and could cost you games.
Your logic seems backwards on this one.
