well it's supposed to compete with apple tv as well as consoles.. and it'll be made according to Valve's specs, but by multiple manufacturers. So I guess it will essentially just be a PC, possibly with a few minor form factor changes.
If Valve's past is any indication, I'd bet they release the SteamBox software to install on your home PC as well, for people who want to build their own.
