Hypothetical trade idea involving Eric Gordon

Fist, let me say that I admit that I am a little nervous about EG wanting to be here long term. I have no facts to back up my thinking. It's my own personal opinion.
This idea is also based on the assumption that EG comes back the last 3 weeks or so of the year and looks good. Unless I missed that we ruled him out for the remainder of the year.
Scenario: Dwight Howard signs with the Nets in the offseason. This would give the Nets two starters at the center position making Lopez expendable.
Indiana receives -Eric Gordon (S&T)
Nets receives - Danny Granger
New Orleans receives - Brook Lopez (S&T)
Pacers have long been rumored in wanting to deal DG for EG. Instead we get NY/BK involved and get a young All Star level center in return. With where we are projected to pick in the first round, we could possibly be pairing Lopez up with either TRob or Davis for the next decade. Also allowing us to use the Minnesota pick on a guard, potentially a guy like Brad Beal or Jeremy Lamb.
This deal allows the Pacers to slide George to the SF position, his natural position. I also believe EG is a better player than Granger.
For the Nets, well they would have just signed Howard making Lopez expendable. They have a GLARING whole at the SF position. This fills that gap. A crunch time lineup of DWill, Brooks, Granger, Humphries and Howard is very formidable in my opinion. Plus they have two lottery picks as well.

Do you have a link for that Hugh Weber interview on Tim Brando where he said "at least" 2 players will be traded? An interview with Weber wasn't one of the downloads on Brando's radio show site and you're the only person that I've seen mention this.
No one wants to be here long term unless we turn things around, and we won't turn things around by constantly cashing in our chips and downgrading in the process. If Demps builds a winner he will stay when he's a UFA, if he doesn't it will be CP3 part II.

I would want more than Lopez for Gordon, but you are on the right track. Maybe the Pacers could throw in their first since the upgrade from Granger to Gordon is pretty significant in talent and age?

With the odds of gordon staying long term pretty slim (IMO), I like this. Lopez + rob or davis =

You have me confused with someone else. I dont listen to Brando's radio show. If you do find it, post it on the board. I'd like to hear it.

All we need is a soft 7 footer who can't rebound

He averaged 9 and 8 boards as a Sophomore and a rookie. He's definitely regressed in that area. If we are going to have a problem on our hands with EG, my opinion we will, getting a 24 year old, relatively healthy, 20 ppg scoring 7 foot center on 50% shooting is a pretty good return. Just my opinion. Plus he makes free throws.

Im not sure what his deal is. How can you be 7' and only average 4 boards? His rebounding gets worse every year.
I wouldn't be totally upset, but I hate his soft game

Lopez would be an awful return for Gordon and possibly the worst move we've ever made. I'd rather keep Kaman because at least he rebounds and plays defense.

He's not going to walk and if he has said he doesn't want to be here we can do A LOT better than Brook fricking Lopez. 4 rebounds and 1 block per game for a 7 foot center is pathetic.

The Hornets will keep him for at least another 3 or 4 years after this season. They'll pay the max contract if they have to. After that, though, I'm not sure. Hopefully we'll know by then where his heart is and Demps will make the moves he needs to.

wait, you are basing this off a 4 game sample size where he is just coming back from injury ?

or he could just take the qualifying offer and only be here one more year.
no one knows at this point.

He's still averaging 30 minutes. Kaman has twice as many rebounds and more blocks in that same amount of time. I'm sure Lopez's rebounds will go up but we can do a lot better than Lopez. He has good offense but he lacks everywhere else. He's a slightly above average player and I want more than that for Gordon. If we could get Lopez and Brooks and maybe a pick then I'd be cool with it.

You really think Gordon hates New Orleans that much that he would take a huge paycut just to leave? Gordon has a Rose-like personality. You can't guess his desires based on his emotions or what he says. You could tell by his talk with Bob and Gil that he is a quiet guy. If he had no problem staying with the Clippers while they sucked then I don't see why he'd want to bolt from here.

i personally think he has the mindset of not being totally 100 percent committed to this franchise. Basically "pay me the max or i want to be somewhere else."

LA is different then Nola.
Again I have no evidence of this. Just my personal impression and opinion of him from everything that I have seen.
