are you guys fricking kidding me with this? Is it your thought that Collins didn't play more last year because he is not good enough?

ETA: He was a true freshman, he wasn't as good maybe as the upper classmen in front of him, but there is not reason to think he won't be a full time starter the next 2 years and beyond that he should think he's a first rounder.

I swear I hate our fanbase. I don't even say GEAUX TIGERS anymore because it might be one of you dumbasses on here. Yeah TM7 could improve some on his coverage. Every frickin corner on EARTH can improve some on coverage. You would think that the NATIONAL DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR would get more praise on the TIGERRANT. This myth that TM7 can't cover needs to die. It couldn't be further from the truth. While he did get beat some, ALL CORNERS GET BEAT. EVEN DEON. support our players, please. frick

That's not what I'm saying. The fact that he has hinted at declaring early without playing much is interesting. That is all I'm saying. The fact that he didn't redshirt and played some as a true Freshman as an OL is a testament to how talented he really is. It's just interesting to hint at it after a true Freshman season in which he didn't play a whole heck of a lot (again not discounting that it's impressive that he even got on field as a true Freshman OL). That's all I'm saying.

This. Tyrann is a very, very good cover corner. If he were 3 inches taller and 15 lbs. heavier he would totally ziplock people. Sometimes he gets out-physicalled in coverage by bigger receivers and QB's can pass around him with impeccable ball placement with the receiver getting position on him by boxing him out. Tyrann is ridiculously skilled in his technique and is extremely talented. Sometimes he is at the mercy of his size, when facing physical WR's. All things considered, he makes up for his size tenfold.

Isn't this what every college player tries to do every single year?

I'm absolutely amazed at how much traction this non-story has received.

I cannot image what the rant would do if Mett tweeted: I am trying to be the #1 pick next year.

Which he probably is BTW.

Feel free to tell me where my projections for the next 2 years are wrong. As to whether he goes #1. In the last 20 years 2 OL have gone #1, Orlando Pace and Jake Long, so probably not. QB's usually go #1. Why do you want to hate on one of the best OL prospects we've had in quite sometime?

Dude, he's a college kid. Most FB players dream of going pro. So he's hinted on twitter he will go pro as soon as he can. Isn't the point of college to get a good job? If he does go pro early, it will most likely be because he's played at a really high level for LSU in 2012 and 2013.

True, those are all good points. It is very easy for me to say that since I'm not a young and talented student athlete. It is also easy for me to sit here and say 'focus on getting on the field' and 'worry about what you can control', which I think to a point is all relevant. However, being young and talented as La'el is, he probably can't help but think of the NFL. Thank you for helping me to tweak my outlook. You present very valid points.

Man, GTFO of here. There is no room on the Rant for reasonable open-mindedness.

TM is not the best cover corner. Bama kept going at him in the NC game, and exposed his weakness'. I think alot more teams are going to go right at him next year like Bama did. I don't see TM having a great year next year. He is a playmaker but not a pure db.

Bruh tm7 gave up 4 passes in the BCSCG. Hardly getting destroyed. He didn't play great in that game , but he is the best playmaker on Defense that has ever suited up for LSU. This after 2 years. He is a good cover corner, not great. He is a great playmaker. I guess everyone forgets the cover clinic he put on against Tex A&M. You dont
win defensive player of the year as a corner without being able to cover. While he isn't elite as a cover guy, he is really good. People need to stop acting like he gave up 10 passers in the Bama game, becaus it isn't true. Most of the passes thrown on him were perfectly thrown passes.

This is what I can't stand about our "fans". Yeah the NATIONAL DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR is one of our weaknesses. He isnt an elite cover guy but he is really good at covering. After his freshman year people said he wouldn't have as good a year as a soph. Guess what? He had a better year. He is gonna go down as one of , if not the, best defensive players ever at LSU.
But yeah you "a fan" thinks he won't have a good year because 4 passes,( which you act like was ten passes) were caught on him on Jan9. I hate our fanbase.

Its a valid point, but the 2 are not mutually exclusive. He could be focused on being a starter, working to improve his game and at the same time thinking about the future.

True. I think it's unhealthy, for La'el or any student athlete, to star gaze and make the future the end-all-be-all motivation, which I don't think La'el is doing. A healthy mix of both is fine, which you pointed out. I think I just took the insinuations a little too far.
