All this baseball will be ruining many arms over the coming years. May be a couple Tommy Johns in this little bunch sadly, and they aren't the only ones. Hope you son is having the time of his life or is going to get a huge paycheck from this one day.

In a three-year span from 1996-99, Andrews performed Tommy John surgery on 164 pitchers, 19 of whom were high school aged or younger. From 2004-07, that number had jumped to 588 pitchers, 146 of whom were high school or youth league players — a seven-fold increase.

Gettting Tommy John at a young age is a blessing in disguise

We are fortunate to have Andrews and company here in Birmingham. In fact, one of Andrews' doctors has coached my son in baseball for several seasons. We take part in a motion study tracking pitchers from little league on. We have to go every year and fill out a survey on innings pitched and have slow motion video taken of the kid pitching. There are close to (30) kids in the study.
Side note: Andrews wrote our ball park's pitch count rules. The other orthopedic surgeon I mentioned limits his kids to (60) pitches in a weekend. The USSSA rules regarding innings pitched are complete trash.
