Sold cars for a few years (though used). Will Cover's advice was money but you can simplify it down even further if you're worried about your memory and/or negotiating skills.
Only one you really need to know. Figure out a number you want to pay and stick to it. No need to start low and increase. No need to be silent. Etc. They'll either get there or they won't. It's not rocket science. They can't get you the car at that price (assuming it's reasonable)? Someone else can. Sticking to this tactic also allows you to do whatever the hell you want during the test drive. I loved it when people would pick apart a car during their test drive because they thought I would think they didn't like it
- Always talk cost in terms of OTD price
Don't let the 4 square make your head spin. Because it can. Any good salesman or the desk can trick stupid people into thinking they are getting a good deal by playing with numbers on that sheet. Don't get hung up on interest %, monthly payments, trade in value. Which brings me to my last important tip
-get financing squared away prior to going to the dealership
