a) Alabama wouldn't have a worse resume. b) It's really irrelevant. Either you have a good enough resume to get in, or you don't. It has nothing to do with how many teams each conference gets in. We're not just fighting against Alabama or Mississippi State, we're fighting against every bubble team from all of the conferences in the country. If Alabama and State struggle down the stretch, that helps LSU. Not necessarily because they are in the SEC (although that would help ensure us of a bye), but because that just eliminates two bubble teams from the entire country.
But if you really want me to pick one of your options, I'd absolutely say Alabama would get in over us, assuming we both finish the season pretty strong. Their current RPI is 36. Ours is 67. That makes much bigger of a difference than us finishing one game better than them in conference and beating them 2 out of 3. And I don't think we can make up too much of that gap between now and the end of the season by beating four mediocre to bad SEC teams.
This. All of this. Every little bit of this.

I still dont know why Bama is considered such a lock. I HATE rpi
only by their fans.
They had a nice start. Not enough. How you finish REALLY matters.

Depending on........
UF may lose in qtr's potentially leaving a high seed for for the 3/4 opponent.
The original post says we need to beat UK or UF and as a side note says we will likely play them. I am just reitiring that we don't need to match up with these teams at all

If you can go over to the SECr and tell us where any Alabama fan thinks we're a lock I'd love to see it. If the tournament started today, we're in. That doesn't equal lock and I don't know where anybody has said that.
It's the entire body of work. The committe's team sheets don't even have anything to show how a team finished. They certainly don't have that silly "last ten games" stat ESPN used to show, and they seem to have let that go the past few years.

If LSU is the four seed they will play Kentucky in the semis unless UK loses to the 8 seed, and let's get real. That's exactly what I was saying.
