won't shoot as accurately as a Chinese SKS?
You don't know what your talking about here. The Ruger out of the box will out shoot an SKS. Plus it's easier to attach scopes or tactical gear.

The best Ruger Mini I've ever seen would not break 2 inches at a hundred yards. The worst was about 10 inches. They are notoriously inaccurate. Plus, hi-cap magazines are harder to find and more expensive (doubly true for 7.62x39). Then finally, I'm not sure if this is still the case, but a good while the Ruger barrel was actually .308 in diameter whereas the 7.62x39 is actually .311. That caused some accuracy and reliability issues.
Nothing wrong with the Ruger and I like it a lot, but if I were going to get a 7.62x39, it is the last rifle I would get chambered in that cartridge.
