Mike Malone. Why weren't we able to keep him ?

In NBA circles, this guy is regarded as one of the top assistant coaches in the game. Why weren't we able to keep him around ? I never got the story. Was it just him looking for new opportunity or did he receive a pay raise ?

I think he got a pay raise and he is really good friends with mark Jackson.

He had nothing to gain staying with Monty, he already got all the reputation boost he was going to get. Go help Marc Jackson and get another boost, or if he fails get your first HC gig as interim coach. It was a lateral move but a lateral move with more upside.
