Listened to Javy Sanchez being interviewed on Puprle & Gold Radio last night...

while stuck in traffic.
Some people will remember that to be quite honest, I'm not a fan of his in any way, shape or form. We have not recruited hitters with great frequency and we have not developed players in terms of their approach at the plate.
I was interested to listen to this guy as I've never heard him speak prior to last night. I came away convinced more than ever that he's a huge liability for our Baseball program.
The main theme was that our pitching staff handcuffed the team's approach on the bases and at the plate. We couldn't be as aggressive as "Coach Maineri wanted us to be".
In other words, the collossal ineptitude of our pitching coach held us back from implementing the plan that the head coach wanted (and not necessarily me).
When asked about the biggest changes we'd see, he stated that, "We won't be coming to the plate down two runs," and that shocked me as well.
The guy took absolutely zero responsibility as a coach for what happened in the batter's box or the basepaths last year, and talked about how much the pitching staff will help him this year, and how much it hurt him last year.
I really am surprised that this guy didn't break down anything different about bunting less or a more fundamental change he made with anyone. Very surprised.
But then again, not surprised at all. This guy's a joke.

Very interesting.
CPM doesn't take-on any blame either. I like and trust these guys but it's funny how they alway reflect any blame.

The worst third base coach in the history of the game.

Sanchez doesn't deserve to learn how to be a coach at LSU like he has from the onset. LSU doesnt deserve that. The guy has been an absolute clown. He is PM's buddy, basically what it boils down to. Under-qualified from the get go.
as far as last years numbers, they were heavily skewed by one player: Mahtook. From beginning of the season until the end, he and Ryhmes were the only consistent bats year long.
I feel like half of our hitters got worse(Hanover, Nola, Edward, Watkins), and im not sure it was because of the bats. Others hit with them.

quote:Did he say anything about his horrific 3rd base coaching?

I have said it for years now and will continue to say it. As an ex player and coach myself- will Davis and javy sanchez have no business coaching at a place like LSU.

I had never heard of Purple & Gold Radio, and I looked all over for the interview. Was it this one, on Tiger Rag Radio?
