Although to late to have any impact on the OP's decision, I'll go ahead and jump in here anyway.

Although I don't have a Bersa, from what I've read they seem to generally have a good reputation and seem to be a good buy.

OTOH, I wouldn't personally buy the gun in question. Yes, the 380 is better than nothing, but my 380 is my personal last choice for cc; I only carry it when I'm unable to carry something else that's a better self-defense round. In addition, to me the 380 is best used as a pocket gun. This Bersa is too big to comfortably pocket carry. If I'm going to cc a gun on on my belt, it's going to be something bigger than the 380. For a gun roughly the same size/weight as the Bersa, one could get a single stack in 9 mm, 40 S&W or even 45 ACP.

I hope you're pleased w/ your Bersa.

Love the Bersa. Picked one up on a whim for $200 and it's one of my favorite handguns to shoot. Points well for me and groups well to. As for the hot barrel issue, the only time that would matter would be if you got mugged at the range after mag dumping 20 rounds. Just like with a hunting rifle, your first and most critical shot is coming out of a cold bore.
