unless you can find a 46.

That would screw my collection all up and cost me some $ I don't have.

A handgun is just a means to fight your way to a real gun.

A lot of my guy friends have .45 handguns they use for home defense. I live alone and just got a Ruger sr9c. I like it because its small and fits in my hands well and its easy for me to use. It also doesn't have a lot of recoil. But that's just me.

Now I have yet to shoot my new Gen 4 Glock 21. I'm really curious to see how it changes the recoil. The double recoil spring in the new Glocks along with the new textured grip are said to help significantly with recoil.

If it has to be a handgun, I say get a .357 wheel gun. Practice with .38 and if the recoil from the .357 is too much for the OP or a female, load it with .38+P. A revolver will fit you hand better than an auto. No worries from limp wristing misfires either.

You get a lot of points for being a chick with a gun. However, if you really want to get some attention at the gun range, pull a 1911 out of your range bag next time, take a lane next to some frat star with his Glock 9 and start throwing ash trays down range. Then turn to said frat star and say, "nice gun. I just bought my girlfriend one just like it."

I shot my friend's Glock 22 and it was too much for me to handle. Being female, I wanted something small, compact, and relatively easy to use. I'm happy with my purchase. I got my ruger a few days ago

@Infidel - I have a lot of good guy friends who are cops. I can't tell you how many times I've been at the range next to some frat star shooting a .22 or a brand new 9mm and I go shoot a .45 in the next lane. Last time I was at the range, I was taught how to use an HK 416. Talk about a sexy gun

I did too till I noticed how much better they fit my hand. My groups at 15 yards were the size of a half dollar. Even won some rounds on a five disk dueling tree against some auto shooters.

While you are there, rent the FN P90 just for fun. It is one hell of a rush when shooting fully automatic. Really hot round.

Nevermind, bad joke I guess. Nice to have a female perspective on the board.

Was offered a new Glock 9 with extra mags for $425 or so, I asked about the .45 of course, waiting. Is that a good price for the 9?
