Excellent link and read. I've been arguing the class is not highly ranked nationally because LBers, TEs and SNPs (which are the primary strengths of this class) aren't gaudy like Top 5 QBs, RBs, WRs, OTs and CBs are - the article you linked seems to illustrate that there is little difference in quality between 2011 and 2012. Jeremy Hill notwithstanding (and he is not consistently counted in this class), we accomplished the ranking we have without an anchor (like Gunner Kiel, Landon Collins, Mario Edwards or Tracy Howard would have been - just getting 1 of those players we missed on would have made this class #7 or so, even losing Davis).

Ultimately the reason why we missed out on player's that we "thought" we were getting, or having player's commit and leave....was pretty simple. We are loaded at every position, and that means a lot of competition for playing time. Looks like the ones that left wanted to play right away, and shy away from competition.

So Bama and Texas aren't "loaded" at all positions? Both recruit top 3 classes every year.

The difference is that the five stars we signed last year were immidiate contributors:

Hilliard
Landry
Freak

Collins to a lessor degree
