..got the blinking red light on my old model 60gb ps3. I have a ton of saves on the HD, and is wondering if there is a way to transfer the saves to my new system.

I already bought a new system (slim model). I don't feel like starting a new game on Skyrim lol. I'm just not sure if and how you can transfer data from the old HD.

just found this answer online my solution doesn't work
quote:
The only way to copy the data off of the old drive is to get the PS3 that had last formatted that drive operating again. The drive can not be read internally in any other PS3 without reformatting it first, this was done to prevent software piracy.
The drive can also not be put into a USB enclosure and read by either a PS3 or a PC, because only the PS3 internal connection can support the drive format that the PS3 reads and writes to. Sony developed and owns that proprietary drive format. It is not FAT32, that is the format required for external hard drives connected to the PS3.
So unless you get the old PS3 running, you will lose your game saves. Trophies and purchased downloaded content can be downloaded again for free if you set up the same PSN account on a new or repaired PS3. Your account allows you to browse all previously downloaded content.
If you send your PS3 to Sony, there is a very slim chance that they would return the same console to you with the data intact, but this is very unlikely.

OUCH, PC FTW. I would cry if I lost my 250+ hours played on Skyrim.

there is supposedly this hair dryer trick that you can do to get your ps3 going for a little longer so you can make a backup file and save your stuff heres a link it's a long video but you might be able to skip around if you don't want to watch it all LINK

All achievements, run all guilds, completed all major quest lines, max leveled (83 I think), all skills 100.

read the thread and you will see what all I achieved. I haven't played the game in almost a month.

I hear ya.. I suppose maxing all skills to 100 would require that much time. Such a great game, but I'm gonna wait for DLC.. I was godlike as it was when I stopped playing. Really looking forward to the DLC

I just have no drive to have to go back and do alllll those quests that I have already done..maybe I'll pick it back up in a few months and go the Imperial route
