It's this rabid itense interest that makes the LSU football program money. You can't have this off the charts interest without having a highly critical fan base. Decide what you want? An uninterested fan base where you make no money or a fanatical fan base where you make money hand over fist?

That's more accurate than many would believe.

I live in Colorado now and there is very little support of CU. It's actually quite sad. I live 15 miles from campus and I rarely see a CU shirt, flag, bumper sticker. Nothing. Even on game day. You can go anywhere in Louisiana and you can't swing a dead cat without hitting some LSU merchandise. It's the culture. It's a beautiful thing.

I guess it's unfathomable for some that potential recruits would read the doom and gloom by fans and be negatively affected by it. To what degree? Impossible to know. But I'm sure it happens and cannot comprehend those thinking it does not.

Dude you are preching to the choir. there are a lot of pingers to point in many different directions but thsi is a open forum for everyone to read. If it has no impact.......then why do we limit what people can say about recruits nad families?

Becuase they might read it.

You are right about other factors and tweeter and 1.9 but the reality like chicken said, may not even be this site as much as it this passionoate fanbase. this just so happens to be the strongest site amongst LSU fans.

Again, was the doom and gloom not also on the players and all over ESPN, etc.?

Tiger Phanatick, I cannot and will not blame TigerDroppings and fans for LSU football problems over the last 23 days. As I did not blame JJ for poor play. I Tend to blame the coaching staff. Now if that turns off a recruit, he needs better parenting and/or high school coaching. Nice discourse though.

The rant is full of teenage cry babies that have never know anything but winning at a high level. They are from the "entitled generation"!

I llove your site and believe it is a defacto LSU go to site. I am positive the game had minimal influence on some recruit decisions but the piling on after this game by mostly fans and media alike has been just wrong! Also, kids love this site and I'm talking about young kids in high school who play football. I don't have the research to prove the actual impact of the negativity spewed by the miles haters, However, just as the horrible performance on 1/9 should not be ignored, neither should this issue be ignored.

I agree with DP. If you think recruits don't read this board and all the other boards that they are being talked about on, then you are mistaken. The negativity on this board has been ridiculous.

I think the booing of JJ had an impact.

Agree this probably had the biggest impact. It certainly reached a large audience on TV, had racial undertones (whether you want to believe it or not, a black kid is going to view it that way), and followed a prominent "unjust" arrest- so he was a victim too. Then LSU fans boo like a bunch of retards at a game and ruin it for everyone.
This.

And Derek never said that fan negativity FOLLOWING JAN 9 had anything to do with anything. When I hear the term 'fan negativity', the above quoted example is the VERY first thing that comes to my mind. And it happened BEFORE Collins and others committed to other schools...not after. Why folks keep claiming Derek is wrong because they committed BEFORE Jan 9, I don't understand. Jan 9 isn't the first time LSU fans have shown their arses on a national stage, and I'm sorry, but when you have a fanbase that boos while the team is blowing out yet another opponent while sitting high above all other teams in the country, yeah...I'm gonna believe that has an impact on a recruit or three.

Ponamsky never blamed TD either. It's amazing how things get distorted/twisted.

Hey a-hole,The only negative impact on recruiting this YEAR, is Les Miles and his offensive philosophy, and oh yes 1/9/12 didn't hurt
The three losses everyone is whining about were all on the DEFENSIVE side of the ball. Collins, Duvall, and Davis. How does Les Miles offensive philosophy affect them, while LSU is turning out defensive players to the league left and right as juniors and even RS sophs?

Fishhead, did you read the tread? I didn't say Derek blamed TD. I responded to another poster. Better to read post origin before responding.

Fishhead, again, did you watch the game on 1/9/12 ? Brent Musberger making jokes about LSUs offense not breaking the 50 yard line. Do you think that had any influence on recruits ? That offense is all Les Miles.

I did. And I can't disagree with the offensive offense in the NCG.

That said, what is being lamented is the loss of the top 3 players in LA to OOS programs. Yet every one of them is a defensive player. How did the offensive abortion in the NCG affect these players? Especially when two of them committed to the same OOS school before Jan 9...yet AFTER the KY game where fans booed while LSU sat HIGH atop the college football world.

That was my point.

It's the same O that produced 13-0. It wasn't executed that day.
